AM Scripture Reading: Psalm 119.57-60

Three Timeless Questions
Introduction:
- Whenever brother Gus Nichols (1892-1975) did any sort of counseling, he began the first session with three questions:
- “Do you really want to do what is right?”
- “Are you ready for the Bible to tell you what is right?”
- “Are you willing to do what the Bible says right now?”
- For brother Nichols, a “no” answer ended the sessions.
- These three questions are extremely valid.
I. DOING WHAT IS RIGHT
- “Do you really want to do what is right?” (Col. 3.17)
- God gives us the opportunity to do what is right!
- Cain – (Gen. 4.7)
- Noah – (Gen. 6.22).
- Naaman – (2 Kings 5.1-14)
- Prodigal son – (Luke 15.17)
- Saul of Tarsus – (Acts 22.16)
- “Do all in the name of the Lord Jesus…” (Col. 3.17; cf., Matt. 28.18-20; John 12.48).
II. ACCEPTING THE BIBLE FOR WHAT IT SAYS
- “Are you ready for the Bible to tell you what is right?” (Jer. 10.23; Prov. 14.12; Matt. 15.8-9; Rom. 10.17)
- Our lives must be governed by God’s Word!
- God’s Word is inspired. (2 Tim. 3.16; 1 Cor. 2.10-13)
- God’s Word is all-sufficient. (2 Tim. 3.16-17)
- God’s Word is complete. (2 Pet. 1.3; Jude 3)
- “Therefore all Your precepts concerning all things I consider to be right; I hate every false way” (Psa. 119.128).
III. WILLING TO OBEY THE BIBLE RIGHT NOW
- “Are you willing to do what the Bible says right now?” (2 Cor. 6.2)
- This question stresses the urgency of obeying God.
- David was not going to delay. (Psa. 119.60)
- Obedience is always an urgent matter…
- What about us? (James 4.17; 2 Cor. 6.2)
Conclusion: What do you think about these three questions?
