AM Scripture Reading: Genesis 3.1-8
This Morning’s Sermon:

THE POWER TO OVERCOME THE PROBLEM OF SIN AND PERCEIVE THE POSSIBILITIES
Introduction:
- What was Eve thinking? What was she not considering?
- “Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked, for whatever one sows, that he will also reap” (Gal. 6.7; cf., James 1.14-16).
- We must experience the power to overcome the problem of sin, and then perceive the possibilities that are ahead!
THE PROBLEM
- The Book of Romans addresses two major subjects:
- The universal nature of sin with its consequences. (Rom. 1.18-32; 2.3-24; 3.9-23; 6.15-23; 7.1-25; etc.)
- The saving gospel of Christ. (Rom. 1.16-17; 3.21-26; 5.6-11; 6.1-14; 7.24-25; 8.1-11; 10.1-13; 11.28-36)
- Paul warned, “There will be tribulation and distress for every human being that does evil, the Jew first and also the Greek” (Rom. 2.9; cf., Prov. 4.19; 13.15; Rom. 6.21)
THE POWER
- Abundant living in Christ! (John 10.10; cf., Rom. 1.16-17)
- Only Jesus can save us! (Matt. 1.21; Acts 4.12)
- There’s power in the blood! (Matt. 26.28; 1 Pet. 1.18-19)
- Realized in obedience! (Mark 16.15-16; Acts 2.37-38)
- “I can do all things through Christ…” (Phil. 4.13).
- We are given the “power” to engage life!. (2 Tim. 1.7)
- Christ empowers us with fruitful lives! (Gal. 5.22-23)
THE POSSIBILITIES
- There are two “possibilities”
- The frightening possibility of sin controlling our lives!
- The enlightening possibility of victory in Christ!
- Abundant living can be realized!
- Strive for spiritual excellence! (Phil. 3.12-15)
- Confidence is to be in Christ, not self! (2 Cor. 3.4-5)
- Then we can say with Paul: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Phil. 4.13).
Conclusion: What are you thinking?
