GOING ON A DIET

Introduction:

  1. People choose to start a diet for many reasons.

  2. Dieting can make one feel healthier and more energetic.

  3. Let’s look at what it takes to go on a spiritual diet.

I. CHOOSING A DIET

A. There are many diets one can choose. (John 14:6)

B. Get started!!!

C. If you wait till you’re healthy to start a diet, you won’t.

(1 Tim. 1:15)

II. FOLLOWING THE DIET

A. Set yourself up for success.

1. Restock your kitchen. (Matt. 12:43-45)

2. Turn off the TV. (Luke 10:38-42)

3. Choose your meals wisely. (2 Pet. 2:1-2, 2:18-19)

4. Eat little meals often. (2 Tim. 3:14-15; 1 Tim. 4:13-16)

5. Think about what you add, not what you take away.

(Gal. 4:19-23)

B. Exercise. (1 Tim. 4:7-8)

C. Stick with it! (1 John 1:7-9)

1. Many diets have a “cheat day.”

2. We don’t, but we do have a safety net for emergencies.

3. It’s about not giving up!

III. RESULTS OF THE DIET

A. More energy. (Titus 2:11-14)

B. Better quality of life. (Rom. 8:28)

C. Prolonged life. (1 Tim. 4:8)

Conclusion: Maintain a healthy spiritual diet so you can be happier!
