Take Control of Your Life!
Introduction:
- “You are in control!” (Mrs. Erabedie, 1st grade teacher).
- We must be in control of our own lives and stop placing blame on outside circumstances. (Read James 1.12-16)
- What must I do to Take Control of My Life?
I WILL NOT THINK THAT!
- Our thoughts control our direction. (Rom. 12.3; Prov. 16.18; 1 Cor. 10.12; 2 Cor. 10.4-5)
- Take control and think on good things! (Phil. 4.8)
I WILL NOT SAY THAT!
- Controlled speech is a must. (Eph. 5.1-4; James 3.1-12)
- Take control and speak godly, edifying words! (Rom. 14.19)
I WILL NOT DO THAT!
- Awareness and resolve are critical… (Gen. 39.7-9; 1 Pet. 5.8)
- Take control and do the right thing! (Titus 2.12)
I WILL NOT GO THERE!
- Do more than say “No!” – leave! (Gen. 39.12; Prov. 5.3-8)
- Take control and avoid the sinner’s place! (Psa. 1.1-3)
I WILL NOT WATCH THAT!
- “Oh be careful little eyes what you see…” (2 Sam. 11.2; Job 31.1; Psa. 101.3)
- Take control and shun the “lust of the eyes.” (1 John 2.16)
Conclusion: Bible study, meditation, prayer and fellowship are the necessary ingredients for taking control of your lives.
