Back To Basics:

WHERE BAPTISM STANDS IN GOD’S PLAN OF SALVATION

Introduction:

  1. According to Ephesians 4.5, there is only “one baptism.”
  2. Paul warned of apostasy, and his fear is being realized all over again! (Cf., 2 Cor. 11.3)
  3. Where does baptism stand in God’s plan of salvation?

I. WHAT SAVES US?

  1. Only God can save us! (Psa. 7.10; Jer. 10.23)
    1. “By grace you have been saved” (Eph. 2.4-9).
    2. He does so through His Son, Jesus Christ! (Rom. 5.9-10; Luke 19.10; 1 Tim. 1.15)
  2. But would God save us through Christ without…
    1. Faith? (Eph. 2.8; Rom. 10.10; Heb. 11.6)
    2. Repentance? (Luke 13.3; Acts 17.30)
    3. Baptism? (1 Cor. 6.11; Titus 3.4-5)

II. BAPTISM STANDS BETWEEN…

  1. The sinner and salvation. (Mark 16.15-16)
  2. The sinner and the remission of sins. (Acts 2.38)
  3. The sinner and sins being washed away. (Acts 22.16)
  4. The sinner and putting off the body of sins. (Col. 2.11-12)
  5. The sinner and the newness of life. (Rom. 6.3-7)
  6. The sinner and being in Christ. (Gal. 3.26-27)
  7. The sinner and wearing Christ’s name. (1 Cor. 1.12-13)
  8. The sinner and being in the body of Christ. (1 Cor. 12.13)
  9. The sinner and having a good conscience. (1 Pet. 3.21)

Conclusion: Is “baptismstanding between you and eternal life?
