Back To Basics:
WHERE BAPTISM STANDS IN GOD’S PLAN OF SALVATION
Introduction:
- According to Ephesians 4.5, there is only “one baptism.”
- Paul warned of apostasy, and his fear is being realized all over again! (Cf., 2 Cor. 11.3)
- Where does baptism stand in God’s plan of salvation?
I. WHAT SAVES US?
- Only God can save us! (Psa. 7.10; Jer. 10.23)
- “By grace you have been saved” (Eph. 2.4-9).
- He does so through His Son, Jesus Christ! (Rom. 5.9-10; Luke 19.10; 1 Tim. 1.15)
- But would God save us through Christ without…
- Faith? (Eph. 2.8; Rom. 10.10; Heb. 11.6)
- Repentance? (Luke 13.3; Acts 17.30)
- Baptism? (1 Cor. 6.11; Titus 3.4-5)
II. BAPTISM STANDS BETWEEN…
- The sinner and salvation. (Mark 16.15-16)
- The sinner and the remission of sins. (Acts 2.38)
- The sinner and sins being washed away. (Acts 22.16)
- The sinner and putting off the body of sins. (Col. 2.11-12)
- The sinner and the newness of life. (Rom. 6.3-7)
- The sinner and being in Christ. (Gal. 3.26-27)
- The sinner and wearing Christ’s name. (1 Cor. 1.12-13)
- The sinner and being in the body of Christ. (1 Cor. 12.13)
- The sinner and having a good conscience. (1 Pet. 3.21)
Conclusion: Is “baptism” standing between you and eternal life?
