THREE TENETS

  1. The McDonald’s Corporation has enjoyed great success because of the vision of businessman Ray Kroc and the unique philosophy he aggressively endorsed.
  2. Profundity, Simplicity & Consistency are three tenets that are vitally important for the success of Christianity.

I. PROFUNDITY

  1. God’s Word is profound! (Isa. 55.8-11; Heb. 4.12-13)
  2. God’s Word reveals profound facts that we need to know:
    1. The depth of sin. (Rom. 3.23; 6.23; Eccl. 7.20; Gal. 3.22)
    2. God’s love. (John 3.16; Rom. 5.6-8; 1 John 4.9)
    3. The gospel’s power. (Rom. 1.16; 1 Cor. 1.18)
    4. Christ’s church. (Matt. 16.18; 1 Cor. 3.11; Eph. 4.11-12)
    5. The reality of death & judgment. (Heb. 9.27; 2 Cor. 5.10)
  3. Truth is profound! (John 8.32)

II. SIMPLICITY

  1. Do not confuse “simplicity” with “simplistic.”
    1. To be “simplistic” is to oversimplify.
    2. Some doctrines are dangerously simplistic: Universalism (John 3.16); Faith Only (James 2.24); Impossibility of Apostasy (Heb. 10.26)
  2. The profundity of Christ’s teachings is its simplicity.
    1. The basis of the gospel. (1 Cor. 15.1-4)
    2. The plan of salvation. (Acts 2.37-38; 18.8; Rom. 6.3-7)
    3. The organization of the church. (Eph. 5.23; Col. 1.18)
    4. The local autonomy of the church. (Phil. 1.1; 1 Pet. 5.2)
    5. The design of worship. (John 4.23-24; Acts 2.42)
    6. The purpose of life. (Eccl. 12.13-14)

III. CONSISTENCY

  1. God’s own constancy. (Mal. 3.6; James 1.17)
  2. Jesus is “the same yesterday, today and forever” (Heb. 13.8).
    1. The cases of conversion. (Acts 2, 8, 9, 10, 16, 18, 22, etc.)
    2. Every facet of authentic Christianity. (2 Tim. 3.16-17)
    3. Every aspect of the church. (Phil. 3.17; Heb. 8.2-5)

Conclusion: Profundity, Simplicity & Consistency are the Three Tenets we must honor and practice for spiritual success
