PM Scripture Reading: Ecclesiastes 1.1-9

This Evening’s Sermon:

 Brent T. Willey

The Last Sunday Sermon

(The Days Of Our Lives)

Introduction:

  1. How would you characterize this year? Good, bad, interesting?
  2. By inspiration, Solomon insightfully wrote: “That which has been is what will be, that which is done is what will be done, and there is nothing new under the sun” (Eccl. 1.9).
    1. From God’s viewpoint, one year is like most other years.
    2. Nothing takes God by surprise!
  3. In this final Sunday sermon of 2014, let’s highlight three important areas: Beginnings, Transitions & Decisions

BEGINNINGS

  1. Marriages – (Gen. 2.18-25; Mark 10.6-9)
  2. Births – (Psa. 127.3-5)
  3. Conversions/Restorations – (Luke 15.10; James 5.20)
  4. Responsibilities – (Eph. 5.22-33; 6.4; Eph. 4.11-12)

TRANSITIONS

  1. Death – (Heb. 9.27; James 4.13-17)
  2. Life Changes – (Acts 20.32-38; Phil. 1.19-21)
  3. Acceptance – (Phil. 3.12-15)

DECISIONS

  1. Past Decisions – (Eccl. 1.14-15; Luke 22.62)
  2. New Decisions – (Josh. 24.15; Acts 24.25)
  3. Preparations – (Amos 4.12; 2 Pet. 3.10-13)
  4. Accountability – (Gal. 6.7-8; Col. 3.23-25)

Conclusion: Since we do “not know what will happen tomorrow,” we must always be prepared today – for eternity is before us…
