PM Sermon 12/28/14: The Last Sunday Sermon
PM Scripture Reading: Ecclesiastes 1.1-9
This Evening’s Sermon:
Brent T. Willey
The Last Sunday Sermon
(The Days Of Our Lives)
Introduction:
- How would you characterize this year? Good, bad, interesting?
- By inspiration, Solomon insightfully wrote: “That which has been is what will be, that which is done is what will be done, and there is nothing new under the sun” (Eccl. 1.9).
- From God’s viewpoint, one year is like most other years.
- Nothing takes God by surprise!
- In this final Sunday sermon of 2014, let’s highlight three important areas: Beginnings, Transitions & Decisions
BEGINNINGS
- Marriages – (Gen. 2.18-25; Mark 10.6-9)
- Births – (Psa. 127.3-5)
- Conversions/Restorations – (Luke 15.10; James 5.20)
- Responsibilities – (Eph. 5.22-33; 6.4; Eph. 4.11-12)
TRANSITIONS
- Death – (Heb. 9.27; James 4.13-17)
- Life Changes – (Acts 20.32-38; Phil. 1.19-21)
- Acceptance – (Phil. 3.12-15)
DECISIONS
- Past Decisions – (Eccl. 1.14-15; Luke 22.62)
- New Decisions – (Josh. 24.15; Acts 24.25)
- Preparations – (Amos 4.12; 2 Pet. 3.10-13)
- Accountability – (Gal. 6.7-8; Col. 3.23-25)
Conclusion: Since we do “not know what will happen tomorrow,” we must always be prepared today – for eternity is before us…
