THE MIRACULOUS SPIRITUAL GIFTS

Part One: Enumeration

 Introduction:

1. The apostle Paul discusses the miraculous gifts of the Spirit.
   1. The Enumeration of the Spiritual Gifts (1 Cor. 12)
   2. The Duration of the Spiritual Gifts (1 Cor. 13)
   3. The Regulation of the Spiritual Gifts (1 Cor. 14)
2. Consider the spiritual gifts of the New Testament era.

THE SPIRITUAL GIFTS ENUMERATED

1. “Gifts” – charismátōn: pl. noun- “a gift of grace” (Vine). A genitive describing possession, i.e., belonging to the Spirit.
   1. Different than “the gift of the Holy Spirit” (Acts 2.38): tān dōreán tou hagiou pneúmatos [def., sing., appo.]
   2. The “Holy Spirit” is the gift; it’s relational!
2. The 9 spiritual gifts – 1 Cor. 12.4-11} miraculous abilities…
   1. “Word of wisdom” (1 Cor. 2.7-13)
   2. “Word of knowledge” (1 Cor. 2.10-12)
   3. “Faith” (1 Cor. 13.2)
   4. “Gifts of healing” (Acts 3.6-8)
   5. “Effecting of miracles” (Heb. 2.4)

THE SPIRITUAL GIFTS IMPARTED

1. By apostolic authority:
   1. The seven men in Jerusalem (Acts 6.5-6)
   2. Stephen & Philip (Acts 6.8-10 & Acts 8.4-13)
2. The “laying on of the apostles’ hands…” (Acts 8.14-24; cf., Rom. 1.11; 2 Tim. 1.6).
