Those Dangerous Pseudo-Isms
Introduction:
- “Pseudo” is a prefix commonly translated as “false,” meaning: to “give a false appearance of simple frankness” (Webster).
- We need to be aware of the following Pseudo-Isms…
PSEUDOCHRISTOI
- “False Christs” throughout history. (Matt. 24.23-24)
- It’s always an authority issue! (2 Thess. 2.3-12)
PSEUDOPROPHETES
- “False prophets” predicted. (Matt. 7.15-20; 1 John 4.1)
- They can be sorted out! (Deut. 18.20-22; 2 Pet. 2.1-3)
PSEUDODIDASKALOS
- “False teachers” have an agenda. (2 Pet. 2.1-3)
- They are to be marked. (Rom. 16.17-18; Titus 3.8-11).
PSEUDOAPOSTOLOI
- “False apostles” masquerade as angels. (2 Cor. 11.13-15)
- Are there living apostles today? (Eph. 4.11; 1 Cor. 15.7-10)
PSEUDOMARTUS
- “False witnesses” perjure themselves. (Matt. 26.60)
- Paul recognized how serious this was! (1 Cor. 15.15)
PSEUDODELPHOS
- “False brethren” look to judge unfairly. (Gal. 2.1-5)
- Then they will attempt to discredit you. (2 Cor. 11.26)
