This Morning’s Sermon:

“COME INTO THE ARK”
Genesis 7.1
Introduction:
- “Then the Lord said unto Noah, ‘Come into the ark, you and your household, because I have seen that you are righteous before Me in this generation’” (Gen. 7.1).
- This is the first Divine invitation given in the Bible. [bō-attah – hT*a^-aB{], an imperative, means, “you come.”
- There are some interesting applications…
AN INVITATION TO ESCAPE CALAMITY
- “And God said to Noah, ‘The end of all flesh has come before Me, for the earth is filled with violence through them; and behold, I will destroy them with the earth’” (Gen. 6.13).
- Why? (Gen. 6.5, 11-13)
- “But Noah found grace…” (Gen. 6.8).
- How? (Gen. 6.14; 7.1)
- Peter warned of the final Judgment! (2 Pet. 3.10-12).
- Many fear the wrong things. (Matt. 10.28)
- Escape comes from the gospel of Christ! (Titus 2.11-14; cf., Rom. 1.16; Mark 16.15-16; 1 Pet. 3.20-21)
AN INVITATION TO TAKE A STEP OF FAITH
- The whole scenario was a step of faith! (Heb. 11.7)
- This was all very new for Noah, but he did it! (Gen. 6.22)
- Noah was the “preacher of righteousness” (2 Pet. 2.5).
- We too are invited to take a step of faith!
- “By faith” that we will obey God. (Heb. 11.6; Heb. 5.8-9)
- Prepare, build & collect… (Matt. 28.19-20; 2 Tim. 2.2)
- There are still dissenters! (2 Pet. 3.1-7; cf., Gal. 6.9)
AN INVITATION TO THE WHOLE FAMILY
- “Come into the ark, you and your household” (Gen. 7.1).
- Fortunately, Noah’s family listened to him!
- Some don’t listen. (Gen. 19.12-26; 1 Sam. 2.22-23, 30)
- God “saves” families! (Acts 11.13-14; 16.15; 16.30-31)
- This can be difficult. (Mark 6.1-4; cf., John 7.5)
- The parent’s duty. (Deut. 6.4-9; Prov. 22.6; Eph. 6.4)
Conclusion: The storm is coming. How will you respond?
