This Morning’s Sermon: Brent T. Willey
ALL IN THE FAMILY
Introduction:
-
God’s wisdom is seen in the institution of the family.
-
The same principles that God has ordained for the human family also apply to the spiritual family. (Eph. 3.14-21)
-
The following principles are a must…
I. LOVE: The Bond of Perfection
-
Col. 3.14: “But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection.”
-
The dual application:
-
In the home. (Eph. 5.25-33; Col. 3.19; Titus 2.3-4)
-
In the church. (Rom. 12.9-10; 13.8-10; John 13.34-35)
II. UNITY: A House Divided Cannot Stand
-
Matt. 12.25: “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself cannot stand.”
-
The dual application:
-
In the home. (Gen. 13.8; Eph. 5.22 – 6.4)
-
In the church. (Psa. 133.1; Phil. 2.1-2; 1 Cor. 1.10)
III. COMPASSION: The Golden Rule in Practice
-
Luke 6.31: “And just as you want men to do to you, you also do to them likewise.”
-
The dual application:
-
In the home. (Col. 3.19; Eph. 6.4)
-
In the church. (1 Pet. 3.8-9; Phil. 2.3-4)
IV. COMMUNICATION: The Lifeblood of Relationships
-
Prov. 18.21: “What you say can preserve life or destroy it; so you must accept the consequences of your words.”
-
The dual application:
-
In the home. (1 Pet. 3.7; Prov. 15.1)
-
In the church. (Eph. 4.15-16; 6.18)
Conclusion: We will be just fine if we do our best to incorporate these principles on a regular basis.
