This Morning’s Sermon:

Four Fathers

(Godly Men Among Us)

Introduction:

  1. Is it even possible to over estimate the value and the need of godly fathers in our society today? I don’t think so…
  2. I would like to briefly examine Four Fathers found in the Bible, men that made good choices for their families.

ENOCH – HE WALKED WITH GOD

  1. Genesis 5.24: “And Enoch walked with God; and he was not for God took him.”
  2. Enoch, the father of Methuselah, “before he was taken, had this testimony, that he pleased God” (Heb. 11.5).

NOAH – HE SAVED HIS HOUSEHOLD

  1. Hebrews 11.7: “By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.”
  2. He also walked with God (Gen. 6.9).

ABRAHAM – HE DIRECTED HIS CHILDREN

  1. Genesis 18.19: “For I have known him, in order that he may command his children and his household after him, that they keep the way of the LORD, to do righteousness and justice, that the LORD may bring to Abraham what He has spoken to him.”
  2. Abraham led his family! (Prov. 22.6).

JOSHUA – HE MADE THE BEST CHOICES

  1. Joshua 24.15: “And if it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”
  2. Joshua trusted God when others would not. (Prov. 23.24)

Conclusion: We need more fathers making good, spiritual decisions!
