1. God’s Holy Spirit is clearly referred to as an animate “Person,” not an inanimate “Thing.”

THE DIVINE ATTRIBUTES OF GOD’S SPIRIT

1. Eternal (Heb. 9.14)
2. Omnipotent (Rom. 8.11)
3. Omniscient (1 Cor. 2.11-12)
4. Omnipresent (Psa. 139.7-8)

THE ACTIVE ATTRIBUTES OF GOD’S SPIRIT

1. He speaks… (1 Tim. 4.1)
2. He teaches… (John 14.26)
3. He testifies… (John 15.26)
4. He guides… (John 16.13)
5. He permits or forbids… (Acts 16.6-7)
6. He fellowships… (Phil. 2.1)

THE WORKING ATTRIBUTES OF GOD’S SPIRIT

1. Assisted in the creation… (Gen. 1.1-2; Job 26.13)
2. An agent in Christ’s incarnation… (Matt. 1.18)
3. Present at Jesus’ baptism… (Matt. 3.16)
4. An agent in Jesus’ resurrection… (1 Pet. 3.18)
5. Inspired the Holy Scriptures… (1 Cor. 2.10-13; 2 Tim. 3.16)
6. Provides joy, peace & comfort… (Rom. 15.13; Acts 9.31)
7. Bears witness with our own spirit… (Rom. 8.16)
8. Convicts the world of sin… (John 16.7-11)
9. Dwells in the Christian… (Acts 2.38; 5.32; Rom. 8.9-11)

Conclusion: We must not ignore the influence of God’s Spirit!
