THE “ONENESS” OF CHRISTIANITY
Introduction:
-
“It is possible to fail in many ways…while to succeed is possible only in one way.” (Aristotle; ca 350 BC).
-
Jesus epitomized “oneness” more than anyone else in history! (Cf., John 10.30; 14.6; 10.16)
-
What is “oneness” in Christianity?
I. “ONENESS” IN WHO WE ARE
-
Our “oneness” is the result of our obedience to the one saving gospel! (Cf., Mark 16.15-16; Rom. 1.16-17; Gal. 1.8-9)
-
Paul’s emphasis of “one” in Ephesians 4.4-6 is defining!
-
Our bond to “one God.” (Matt. 28.19)
-
We are a part of the “one faith.” (Jude 3)
-
We obeyed the “one baptism.” (Gal. 3.26-28)
-
We are part of the “one body.” (1 Cor. 12.13)
-
We possess “one hope.” (Titus 3.7)
II. “ONENESS” IN WHAT WE DO
- “Oneness” in what we do is true unity! (John 17.20-21)
-
How is this “oneness” demonstrated?
-
By walking by the same rule. (Phil. 3.16)
-
By declaring the same message. (Matt. 28.18-20)
-
By having the same insight. (1 Cor. 1.10; Phil. 1.27)
-
By practicing impartial care. (1 Cor. 12.25; Phil. 2.1-4)
-
By reciprocating the same love. (John 13.34-35)
Conclusion: Spiritual success is the result of true oneness!
