This Evening’s Sermon:

THE “ONENESS” OF CHRISTIANITY

Introduction:

  1. “It is possible to fail in many ways…while to succeed is possible only in one way.” (Aristotle; ca 350 BC).

  2. Jesus epitomized “oneness” more than anyone else in history! (Cf., John 10.30; 14.6; 10.16)

  3. What is “oneness” in Christianity?

I. “ONENESS” IN WHO WE ARE

  1. Our “oneness” is the result of our obedience to the one saving gospel! (Cf., Mark 16.15-16; Rom. 1.16-17; Gal. 1.8-9)

  2. Paul’s emphasis of “one” in Ephesians 4.4-6 is defining!

    1. Our bond to “one God.” (Matt. 28.19)

    2. We are a part of the “one faith.” (Jude 3)

    3. We obeyed the “one baptism.” (Gal. 3.26-28)

    4. We are part of the “one body.” (1 Cor. 12.13)

    5. We possess “one hope.” (Titus 3.7)

II. “ONENESS” IN WHAT WE DO

  1. “Oneness” in what we do is true unity! (John 17.20-21)
  2. How is this “oneness” demonstrated?

    1. By walking by the same rule. (Phil. 3.16)

    2. By declaring the same message. (Matt. 28.18-20)

    3. By having the same insight. (1 Cor. 1.10; Phil. 1.27)

    4. By practicing impartial care. (1 Cor. 12.25; Phil. 2.1-4)

    5. By reciprocating the same love. (John 13.34-35)

Conclusion: Spiritual success is the result of true oneness!
