AM Scripture Reading: Ecclesiastes 9.11-12 This Morning’s Sermon: John Krueger SALVATION IS A MARATHON Introduction: A marathon race, like salvation through Jesus Christ is open to everyone. (Mark 9.23) Running a marathon takes commitment, discipline, overcoming adversity, and is a long term project. (1 Cor. 9.24-27) Let us look at the specifics: I. SALVATION IS A LONG RANGE PROJECT: Salvation like running a race are not a sprint (Eccl. 9.11) Both require proper preparation (Matt. 13.1-9) II. SPIRITUAL GROWTH AND SALVATION REQUIRES DISCIPLINE: How is discipline accomplished (2 Tim. 2.5) To a certain extent, we must wear blinders (Heb. 12.1-2) […]

The state of Idaho has discovered that it is easier to take a mansion than it is to give it back, reports John Miller. The mansion was built by J.R. Simplot, a potato magnate who became a billionaire by building a corporation that supplied McDonald’s with its french-fries. Simplot, who died in 2008 at age 99, gave the mansion to the state of Idaho in 2004. The mansion was given to the state to serve as a residence for the governor of Idaho. But the current governor doesn’t want to live in it! A public hearing began this week to discuss what […]

The mood was no doubt solemn and determined in that cramped assembly room. After months of debate and argument, the time had finally come for the conclusion of the matter at hand. One after another the men walked up to the table, dipped a quill in the inkwell, and made the strokes that would determine the future of the entire world. One by one, 56 men signed a proclamation of their liberation from tyranny. The signers, though most are now forgotten by many, signed the most momentous and remembered document in the history of our country: the Declaration of Independence. […]

PM Scripture Reading: Acts 2.36-41 Brent T. Willey Back To Basics: WHERE BAPTISM STANDS IN GOD’S PLAN OF SALVATION   Introduction: According to Ephesians 4.5, there is only “one baptism.” Paul warned of apostasy, and his fear is being realized all over again! (Cf., 2 Cor. 11.3) Where does baptism stand in God’s plan of salvation? I. WHAT SAVES US? Only God can save us! (Psa. 7.10; Jer. 10.23) “By grace you have been saved” (Eph. 2.4-9). He does so through His Son, Jesus Christ! (Rom. 5.9-10; Luke 19.10; 1 Tim. 1.15) But would God save us through Christ without… […]

AM Scripture Reading: John 14.1-6 This Morning’s Sermon: Brent T. Willey The Exclusive Savior John 14.6 Introduction: “Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me’” (John 14.6). Note the definite articles: “the way, the truth, & the life.” No less than 18 times, as recorded in the gospel of John alone, Jesus says,  )Egw/ ei)mi [egō eimi] – “I am.” If His statement is the absolute truth, then Jesus Christ is indeed The Exclusive Savior! I. JESUS CHRIST, THE WAY Christ’s first clause, “I am the […]

AM Scripture Reading: Acts 16.25-33 This Morning’s Sermon: Brent T. Willey Words of Salvation Introduction: The Philippian jailer asked the most important question that can be asked, “What must I do to be saved?” (Acts 16.30). The New Testament is replete with words of salvation! I. THE CASES OF CONVERSION IN ACTS While Luke speaks of multitudes coming to Christ in generic terms (Acts 4.4; 5.14; 6.7; 9.31, 42; ), he also records some specific accounts. The Jews on Pentecost: Acts 2.1-47 The Samaritans: Acts 8.4-13 The Ethiopian Eunuch: Acts 8.26-39 Saul of Tarsus: Acts 9.1-19; 22.6-16 Cornelius’ Household: Acts […]

Brent T. Willey, evangelist Introduction: We have heard good loving people that are trying to avert confrontation say something like, “It really doesn’t make any difference what you believe as long as you are sincere in what you do.” This kind of statement, whether realized or not, belittles God. It says that God’s word, and therefore God, can be misunderstood, set aside, altered, or even disregarded with impunity. The truth of God’s word is the most important message that we can discuss and share with a lost and dying world. Therefore, we must “contend earnestly for the faith which was […]
